24-32 weeks
During this period your baby will grow to almost 2 kilos in weight and 40 cm in length, the limit of viability has been reached. Limbs and organs have now developed although it will take a few more weeks before your baby is ready to be born. At 27 weeks the third trimester is fast approaching, some pregnancy discomforts can increase and you can clearly feel your baby moving.
When to ring us during the 3rd trimester
At 27 weeks you are in your 3rd and last trimester. Of course you are hoping that your pregnancy will be without complications, but if they do occur it is usually in this trimester. It is therefore important that you know when to call us. For this reason the frequency of appointments will increase also.
Always call us when:
- you feel anxious
- you experience vaginal bleeding
- you are experiencing a combination of headaches, vomiting, dizzy spells or upper abdominal pain
- feeling your baby move less
- feeling abdominal and/or back pain which comes and goes in a pattern before you are 37 weeks
- loss of amniotic fluid
Feeling life
It can sometimes feel like a big responsibility to keep checking if your baby is moving inside you. Not all pregnant women feel their baby move with equal intensity as some babies are calmer and require more relaxation and rest from you in order to monitor your baby’s movements. Read more about a normal movement pattern here. If you have any questions, please contact us.

To help you prepare for the birth and your maternity period, we host an information evening, this will be live at the Bosboomstraat 1G. We have a webinar in English to watch on demand, see below.
We will also discuss under which circumstances you will be referred to a gynaecologist and what to expect during the first week after the birth. Near the end of the evening we will show you a recording of a birth, you can choose to watch this or not. You are welcome to join this evening around your 28th week of pregnancy. It is recommended that you attend with your partner or anyone else who will accompany you at the birth.
